NEWS JUST IN: ASHLEY WINS MAJOR PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD
I am delighted to tell you that I have won the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Award from the Society of Professional Imagemakers. The winning image is Tuscan Dawn, taken in the D'Orcia Valley in southern Tuscany.

I have just had this glowing recommendation about my services posted on Linkedin by Mary Johnson Evans of Derbyshire Relocations:
"Ashley is simply brilliant at what he does. I found out about Ashley's work through his fabulous range of calenders (Duffield, Belper and Ashbourne). I had no hesitation in inviting Ashley to photograph the gorgeous Station Meadow View development in Duffield, when I worked as Marketing Manager. Despite having a terror for heights, Ashley allowed us to hoist him up in a crane basket to enable him to create the most dramatic and stunning photographs. He is a true professional. On a lighter note, Ashley was asked to be the formal photographer at my children's school Christmas Fayre last year. No pressure there then!! He must have spent 4-5 hours encouraging small, and the not so small, people to smile and pose - I can honestly say that EVERY family was delighted with their individual family photo. He also gave a most generous donation to the PTA. Thank you Ashley!"
After a successful 2010 - a major highlight was photographing HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN when she came to Derby for the Royal Maundy - I am enjoying a busy, varied and involving 2011. I also photographed Princess Anne last year when she came to open Derby Roundhouse and have already this year photographed Prince Charles and Camilla when they visited Royal Crown Derby, the Duke of Gloucester when he opened the Duffield-Wirksworth railway line and Prince Edward when he visited Heage Windmill. I have decided it would be nice to collect the set. So, come on William and Kate... when are you coming to Derbyshire?
If you are following Will and Kate in getting married in 2011, I would be delighted to capture the essential moments of your special day. I am a member of the SWPP – the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers - through which I have gained ABPPA (Associateship of the British Professional Photographers' Associates). You may have seen my photos of the Queen and Princess Anne in the pages of DERBYSHIRE LIFE & COUNTRYSIDE magazine. I am a writer as well as photographer for Derbyshire Life and would be the ideal choice if your business wanted an ADVERTORIAL – words and images taken care of in one go.
I also photograph many EVENTS – balls, dinners, golf days, village fetes and village hall openings – which find their way into Derbyshire Life. If you are planning a big day or evening event - and it's for charity - do please get in touch. I have teamed up with fellow photographer Paul Mellor to operate as A&P Photos, dedicated to photographing events. We bring studio lighting for the best possible photos and we print on the spot - you walk away with a mounted pic. Click here to find out about our Events service. And remember: once we’ve photographed your event, you can purchase prints directly from this website.
I am also available for PORTRAIT work – again, check out my services and images from previous sessions by clicking here. Also, once your portraits have been taken, you can order photos as prints, canvases or MDF blocks directly from this website. I even do fridge magnets, key rings, mugs and mouse mats!
In the world of COMMERCIAL work, I continue to be the official photographer for the DERBY CATHEDRAL QUARTER as a result of providing photos which have made the Cathedral Quarter a much more vibrant visitor destination. Photos really can make a difference... As the CQ Contracts Manager Ian Ferguson states: ‘The Cathedral Quarter could not have raised its awareness and developed its brand and sense of place so successfully without Ashley’s work.’
In fact, Ian was so impressed with my photos that he recommended me as the photographer for the company that runs the BRACKMILLS INDUSTRIAL ESTATE in Northampton, which could soon become the premier business and ‘logistics’ park in the country.
Other businesses I have worked for include Visit Peak Tourism, the Arkwright Society, MP Pauline Latham, Tregoning Art Gallery, Carter Developments, London solicitors George Carter, the Marlowe Players Theatre Group and high class Derbyshire butchers Owen Taylor. Find out more about my work in this area by clicking here.
I also produce PHOTO ART – abstracts, landscapes and floral images – which, again, can be purchased here online. I have photo art images on the walls of the ELAICHI Restaurant in Belper (purveyors of the finest curries this side of Bangladesh) and would consider offering my work to any restaurant whose walls need brightening. I would welcome hearing from any Italian restaurant as I have rather a nice line in TUSCANY images taken in the VAL D’ORCIA. You get to have my framed images for free and simply help me to sell them. What’s not to like about that offer? To see my photo art, click here.
I had two 2011 CALENDARS published: one of BELPER and one of DUFFIELD. For 2012, I am planning to add Wirksworth to the list.
I also produce POSTCARDS and GREETING CARDS. Ever considered a PERSONALISED GREETING CARD? I know just the guy to commission for that special photograph... er, me.
When it comes to the printing of my photos, you couldn’t be in better hands... All images are printed professionally and rather lovingly by One Vision Imaging on high quality lustre photo paper which has a lifetime guarantee.
One more thing before you start browsing my galleries... I am also open to photographing INTERIORS and GARDENS. I do a rather fabulous book offer whereby I capture your home and/or garden and you get a permanent memory of it in a custom-bound album book. I would also look to submit the images of your home and/or garden to 25 Beautiful Homes magazine and Derbyshire Life.
